BEST ROAD TRIPS AROUND SOMA

It’s the summer and one of the best things about summer is…..A ROAD TRIP!!! There are so many places near SoMa that are great to take a road trip to that we figured we’d dedicate our latest blog to the subject. So without any further ado, let’s dive into our blog, the Best Road Trips Around SoMa!

Kicking off our blog on the best road trips around SoMa is Baker Beach. Located a mile or so below the cliffs of the Presidio’s west shore, Baker Beach has stunning and beautiful views of both the infamous Bridge as well as the Marin Headlands. When we went there, we saw porpoises playing out in the surf – it was just joyously mind-blowing. Be sure to pack a picnic too because they have plenty of tables, grills and bathrooms by the east end of the parking area. This is a road trip worth taking time and time again.

Next up on our blog on the best road trips around SoMa is Muir Woods, home to the stunning redwood forest. It’s a primeval forest that’s been federally protected since 1908 and it’s open 365 days a year with no reservations required. We recommend you arrive early to avoid congestion but once there you can marvel at the sights of nature in all it’s natural glory. One HUGE tip – if you’re doing the ride-sharing thing, schedule your trip before you arrive because there’s zero cell coverage or wifi. I know; looks like trees won’t be getting their own Snapchat account anytime soon.

Finishing up our blog on the best road trips around SoMa is Halfmoon Bay for some of the most gorgeous coastlines you ever did see. Found around 35 minutes south (28 miles) of San Francisco, it’s filled with stunning views, romantic inns, and amazing restaurants. While we were there, we bought fresh fish for dinner right off one of the fishing boats that had just returned! The whole area is so beautiful and ripe with an adventure that we can’t recommend it enough.

And there you have it – some choice destinations for some cool road trips you can take right around the SoMa area. If you have any ideas for others, please let us know. Wherever you choose to go, drive safe and have tons of fun!
