The Best Places to Spend Time Outside in SoMa

South of Market is a beautiful place to live and, in Spring and Summer, comes alive with things to do as the sunshine plays down amongst us. But where are the best places to spend time outside in SoMa? It’s the focus of our brand new blog!

Kicking off our blog of the best places to spend time outside in SoMa is the Mars Bar & Restaurant located over at 798 Brannan St. Their patio is the place to people watch and be watched yourself! The music on tap covers everything disco, 80’s, and pop, and the specials are out of this world (literally; that’s why they’re called Mars). The patio fills up pretty quick so make sure you show up early. While there, we sampled the cheeseburger (which was SO good) along with a plate of nachos and fries. Loved it! You will too.

Next on our blog of the best places to spend time outside in SoMa is the San Francisco Flower Mart. This location is one of only a handful of grower-owned wholesale flower markets in the country and is an explosion of colors and scents. It’s open Mon-Sat from 10am to 3pm and we recommend you getting there as early as possible to guarantee great deals. You can find almost everything here – from orchids to roses and from tulips to lilies – as well as some very exotic brands.

Finishing up our blog of the best places to spend time outside in SoMa is the Yerba Buena Gardens which locals call an oasis in the city. Located at 750 Howard Street, Yerba Buena is host to children’s playgrounds (which kids LOVE), and a rooftop children’s garden. There’s even a 25 foot long tube slide there along with a Play Circle.

And there you go! Hopefully you’ve found a place or two you want to visit and explore. We’ll revisit the topic at some point in the future with even more goodies – but for now these are the best places to spend time outside in SoMa!
