Best Music Venues in SOMA

SOMA Music Venues

Since being named the industrial-swank side of San Francisco, the energy in SOMA is young and adventurous. One of the best parts about SOMA is that it is always possible to see the best bands touring San Francisco at one of the area’s best music venues, all being a short Uber ride away!

This week’s blog is all about which of these musical buildings is our favorite:

The Mezzanine is a great venue for corporate parties, concerts, and events. While it’s generally a smaller and more intimate venue, the building is 2-story with an open dance floor, so it feels more spacious. The sound system is pretty amazing with the perfect amount of bass. One tip we have is that getting to Mezzanine early is KEY since they always have awesome performances leading the place to get very packed!

The Hotel Utah Saloon

This amazing saloon is an intimate, circa-1908 bar and music venue offering indie live acts, cheap beers and burgers.  A wide variety of unknown and indie bands descend on this dive bar for intimate and great shows, so it’s important to always check their calendar as they offer something for every type of musical tastes. Their food is also some of the best “bar” food in the city, so come early to enjoy a brew and some grub before heading downstairs for a show. Please note this space is small, so don’t expect a lot “moving around” room.

Bottom of the Hill

From indie rock to hip-hop, this popular club offers a range of live music, plus outdoor seating. The Bottom of the Hill is an intimate small divey space, but you can catch some good acts that pass through here.  There’s even food available for order with affordable drinks also. Also, this venue brings something out in the artist where they’re wanting to be part of the audience and they’re more than willing to come down and sing on the floor!

SOMA offers its residents so much exploration and adventure, sometimes it is difficult to choose one thing to do. These three music venues not only offer some amazing music acts and delicious drinks, but they also incorporate SOMA’s industrial vibe to perfection.
