Cinco de Mayo is quickly approaching, so that means it’s time to start hunting down the best Mexican food spots in our neighborhood. Living in SoMa means you have quite the variety of choices, from a tequila bar with an excellent happy hour selection, or a hole in the wall spot with authentic mole and burritos. Our neighborhood is a little slice of culinary heaven, so let us know which spots you try!

Tropisueno: Tropisueno is a delicious little spot, and most people come here for the do-it-yourself salsa bar and great priced happy hour. The location is a self serve Taco bar during the day with a full service restaurant at night. This Mexican restaurant boasts the fact the it is more traditional Mexican versus Californian interpretations, so if you’re trying to get authentic this holiday- this is your spot!

Uno Dos Tacos: This taco joint is not only an awesome tequila bar, but also has beers on tap and fresh-made food. Great for a quick bite, date or socializing, Uno Dos Tacos offers a wide variety of Mexican food items and a unique setting to eat them in. There is always a line, but it moves quickly during the lunch and dinner rushes. We give this place bonus points for offering blankets in their outdoor seating section. In San Francisco’s unpredictable climate- this can be a life-saver!

Garaje: This cash-only spot serves up a truly bizarre selection of food along with an excellent array of craft beer. Their zapatos are basically a cross between a burrito and a quesadilla, so they’re definitely a must try at Garaje. Grab some of their fresh cut chips and homemade salsa to go with it. Or…take things in a different direction and get their cheeseburger. And fries. Or maybe chips and salsa? Or bring friends and get both!

Cinco de Mayo is the holiday to celebrate by enjoying some of the best Mexican food in the city- from burritos to margaritas, it’s going to be hard not to have it for every meal!
