The Best Farmers Markets in SoMa

One of the best things about living in SoMa is the many options for the freshest produce from local farmers. Not only do these farmers markets provide the option of delicious foods, but it can turn into an all day event! Here are a few of our favorite markets:

Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Located right by the water, this market is a must go when you are in the neighborhood of  SoMa. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market sells fresh meats, organic vegetables and fruits during weekend, and some stalls do give out sample/testers before you decide to buy. It can be a solid lunch spot for vegetarians and carnivores alike, and there’s plenty of international produce and and products as well. Great way to spend a Saturday morning in San Francisco!

Far West Fungi: Excellent place to buy mushrooms and truffles products, fresh/dried mushrooms, start kit for mushroom cultivation, and very interesting books about mushrooms. When available, they also stock extremely seasonal products as fiddleheads and other gourmet delicacies. With a helpful and amazing staff, FWF can be found at all of the local farmers markets, but their Ferry Building outpost is pretty big in comparison.

San Francisco Farmers’ Market at Crocker Galleria: We love coming to this farmer’s market on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are tons of vendors supplying fresh fruit, veggies, baked goods, roasted nuts, honey, etc. We highly recommend stopping by Esther’s German Bakery for their Knusperstangen crunch sticks and the Bolani stand for their spinach and pumpkin breads and different spreads! It is a wonderful place to either have a delicious lunch or find the best produce in all of SF!

SoMa is home of so many delicious farmers markets, it’s possible to go to a new one every week! The fresh produce and fun atmosphere makes them the best place to go for both locals and tourists!
